What caught the attention of V3 readers last week

LG's G3 flagship Android handset is aiming to finally topple Apple's and Samsung's dominance of the smartphone market, and tempt mobile users over to the less-known Korean brand. We've tested out the G3 to see how it compares to the flagship Android handset from another Korean firm, HTC, and readers rushed to see which came out on top, the One M8 or LG's latest.

HP held its Discover user event in Las Vegas last month, and the firm took the wraps off two supercomputers aimed at broadening the reach of high-performance computing (HPC) in the business and academic markets. The firm was given a boost last week after Airbus signed a deal to upgrade its HPC kit to 1,200 teraflops to help in the design and building of aircraft. All this power will come out of HP's Performance Optimized Data Centres (PODs), which will be deployed at Airbus's facilities in Toulouse, France, and Hamburg, Germany.

Elsewhere, there was consternation over the latest software updates from Apple, as iPhone and iPad users complained that iOS 7.1.2 caused more problems than it fixed. The latest mobile software release attempted to deal with a range of security issues, but instead some users reported having to reset their tablets or phones to factory settings after the download failed to work properly.
