Places for People Group issues £30m tender for IT services hub

Provision of iPads, iPad Minis, Microsoft Surface and Google Chromebook part of mobile working lot

Property management, development and regeneration firm Places for People Group has issued a tender worth up to £30m for the provision of an IT services hub.

"As part of its procurement strategy, Places for People is committed to developing value for money services and as such wants to create a framework for IT services," the group said in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) notice.

The group is seeking ‘lot lead partners' that can deliver a series of IT-related services to the IT services hub, which will be used and owned by Places for People.

The contract has been divided into eight lots: client hardware, server and storage hardware, outsourced IT services, business intelligence, licensing, hardware disposal, mobile working and Apple device support.

The business intelligence lot includes the supply of a bespoke solution design for a BI platform and the support and maintenance of a SAP Business Objects environment.

The mobile working lot involves the provision of "smart" tablets and devices, which include but are not limited to: iPads, iPad Minis, Google Chrome books, netbooks and the Microsoft Surface.

Bidders can apply to more than one lot, and each prospective partner is required to demonstrate past experience and capability in providing these services.

The framework is intended to be reusable and will be open to membership from other interested organisations.

The initial term of the framework is two years with an option for two extensions of one year. The group said that call-offs may be made in the final year of the framework agreement, which may extend the durations beyond the four-year period.

The contract, which is covered by the Government Procurement Agreement (GPA), has an estimated value of between £8m and £30m.
