Facebook buys Indian mobile startup Little Eye Labs

Social networking giant expands its mobile technology portfolio with $15m acquisition

Facebook has purchased Little Eye Labs, an Indian start-up that makes performance analysis and monitoring tools for Android Apps, enabling developers to optimise applications for Google smartphones.

The move is Facebook's first Indian acquisition and a further sign of the social networking company's efforts to increase revenue from its mobile business. No figures about the Little Eye Labs acquisition have been disclosed, but it is believed that Facebook spent less than $15m on the deal.

"Today, we're very excited to announce that Facebook is acquiring our company," read a Little Eye Labs blog post about the Facebook buyout.

"With this acquisition, Little Eye Labs will join forces with Facebook to take its mobile development to the next level! This is Facebook's first acquisition of an Indian company, and we are happy to become part of such an incredible team."

The Indian firm was founded in August 2012 and currently has seven employees. The entire Little Eye Labs team will be relocated to Facebook's headquarters in Menlo Park, California.

"From there, we'll be able to leverage Facebook's world-class infrastructure and help improve performance of their already awesome apps. For us, this is an opportunity to make an impact on the more than one billion people who use Facebook," said the Little Eye Labs blog post.

"This has been a fun and exciting journey. We're eager to be working alongside the incredible team at Facebook, and together, we'll continue on our mission of building awesome analysis tools to aide in the development of brilliant apps," the team added.
