Apple App Store sales top $10bn in 2013
iPhone and iPad users spent over $1bn in December alone
Apple iPhone and iPad users spent over $10bn (£6bn) in the App Store during 2013, with $1bn of that coming during December, Apple has announced.
iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch owners downloaded over three billion apps in December alone, making it the most successful month in Apple App Store history.
App developers have earned a combined $15bn through sales made in the Apple Store since it was launched in 2008. The store is now available to Apple device users across 115 countries.
"We'd like to thank our customers for making 2013 the best year ever for the App Store," said Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of internet software and services.
"The lineup of apps for the holiday season was astonishing and we look forward to seeing what developers create in 2014."
