Facebook to build cushy $120m housing complex for employees

Residents can leave their dogs at the pet spa while they laze around the pool after an exhausting yoga session

Facebook is teaming up with development and investment company St Anton Partners to build a $120m, 394-unit housing complex within walking distance of the social networking firm's headquarters, making life (even) easier for its California-based employees.

The 630,000 sq ft complex dubbed "Anton Menlo" will feature a sports pub, a swimming pool, spa and a rooftop ‘entertainment deck' with three-themed areas.

Residents will also be able to leave their dogs at a pet spa and day care centre.

Other features include an on-site convenience store, café, dry cleaning and package drop off services, a clubhouse, an iCafe, and a yoga and training facility.

"Anton Menlo" is currently in the design review phase with the city's staff, but if approved, the 13,200 sq foot housing area will have 35 studio rooms, 208 one-bedroom rooms, 139 two-bedroom rooms and 12 three-bedroom rooms.

Initially the rooms will only be available to Facebook employees, and are expected to be sold at the market rate.

"We are thrilled to have new housing options coming to the City of Menlo Park to serve the Silicon Valley and the Marsh Road and Willow Road business areas," said City of Menlo Park mayor Peter Ohtaki.

"Providing new housing opportunities for employees working in the area will allow people to live where they work and to spend more time enjoying this great city," he said.
