We take a hands-on look at Nokia's second 41MP camera-phone

The Nokia Lumia 1020 was unveiled in New York and is the second handset from the Finnish phone maker to boast a 41MP rear-camera sensor. The firm orginally debuted the technology in 2011 on its Symbian-powered 808 Pureview smartphone.

Luckily during its two-year lull in activity, Nokia has refined its cutting-edge camera technology to create what it claims is the most advanced smartphone camera ever made.

Backing up this claim Nokia has loaded the 1020's 41MP rear snapper with a host of top-end parts and features. These include a 1/1.5" back-illuminated (BSI) sensor, 6-lens Zeiss wide-angle optics and optical image stabilisation and Xenon flash as well as new oversampling and generation-two image stabilisation technology.

The tech is designed to let the 1020 capture professional-level images and shoot unprecedentedly clear and smooth video.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 is set for release this quarter, though there is currently no word on its UK prices. Check back with V3 later for a full review of the 1020, or read our in-depth hands-on impressions here.
