Thames Water issues €60m tender for industrial control systems and services

Contract split into two lots, with an initial duration of three years

Thames Water Utilities is looking for potential suppliers for its control and automation systems and services.

The utilities company, which claims it is the UK's largest water and wastewater services provider, has issued a tender worth between €25m and €60m.

The contract, which is not covered by the Government Procurement Agreement (GPA), is split into two lots; the first is for control and automation systems.

This could include the design, manufacture, testing, supply, delivery and commissioning of low voltage control systems. The Online Journal of the European Union (OJEU) tender states that suppliers who can provide the control system hardware must be able to offer systems integration as well, including the ability to upgrade large site SCADA systems.

The second lot is for control and automation support services and may include the upgrade and maintenance of existing systems, as well as the involvement of new build programmable logic controllers (PLC), human machine interface (HMI) or SCADA systems.

Tenders may be submitted for one or more lots. The minimum annual turnover to participate in the tender process for lot one is £5m per annum, and for lot two is £500,000 per annum.

Thames Water said that any agreement awarded would be for an initial duration of three years, with options to extend biannually up to a maximum overall term of seven years.
