Lenovo rolls out first 15in ThinkPad ultrabook
ThinkPad S531 offers performance and style for small businesses and professionals
Lenovo has announced the ThinkPad S531, an ultra-thin premium laptop aimed at small businesses and professionals who want a combination of design and substance, according to the firm, that will cost £575, excluding VAT.
Available now from business partners and on Lenovo's website, the ThinkPad S531 is touted by the firm as the first 15in ThinkPad ultrabook. With its 3rd generation Intel Core processors, it is claimed to offer great performance for work tasks and an excellent experience for personal computing.
"The progressive design of our ThinkPad S531 will help small businesses impress their customers. We pack a punch behind that style, however, as we are committed to delivering genuine substance with improved performance, battery life and legendary ThinkPad reliability," said Lenovo vice president for Products and Channels in EMEA, Vincent Fauquenot.
In specifications, Lenovo is able to offer up to 10GB of memory. This unusual figure is met by fitting 2GB soldered onto the motherboard and another 8GB in memory slots, according to Lenovo. Other details comprise storage options up to 500GB, Dolby Advanced Audio and a choice of 15.6in displays, including a 15.6in Full HD antiglare screen.
The S531 is also one of the first ThinkPads to feature Lenovo's OneLink technology. This enables a dock to connect to the laptop via a single cable to provide extra video and USB 3.0 ports plus a gigabit Ethernet Lan connection, as well as providing power.
Lenovo describes the ThinkPad S531 as having an ultra-thin bezel and a design with bevelled edges plus an aluminium LCD cover in silver or graphite black. Available with Windows 8, the ThinkPad S531 has a six-row backlit keyboard that includes Windows 8 optimised shortcut keys.
