Top 10 most read: Samsung S4 video hands-on, Malwarebytes dodgy security update affects thousands

Top stories from the past seven days for V3 readers

Troublesome software updates are the bane of many people's lives, but the dodgy update from security vendor Malwarebytes that knocked thousands of computers offline last week was the stuff of nightmares.

The incident affected firms all over the world and meant that crucial operating files were marked as spam, thereby knocking systems offline.

The firm stopped the issue within eight minutes but this wasn't enough to stop V3 readers reporting the incident created havoc with their systems. Elsewhere Samsung dominated the headlines for both positive and negative reasons.

Firstly, at the London showcase event for its Galaxy S4 device, we were finally able to test out the device, to get our first hands-on video impressions, both on its own merits and against rivals such as the HTC One.

However, the negative saw the firm in hot water over accusations it paid reviewers to write scathing reviews of the rival HTC One device in order to try and further hinder its competition. HTC fumed over the revelations and Samsung promised it would ensure no similar incidents could occur in future.

Finally, HP's foray into the tablet market with the Android operating system finally got a UK release date, with the Slate 7 device first unveiled all the way back in January now set for a 1 May release date.
