Top 10 most read: Google Android is evil, firms sob over upcoming XP loss, police sacked for social media abuse
The biggest hits with V3 readers last week
Top of the pops for V3 readers this week was our coverage about a complaint made to the European Commission (EC) about Google Android. Google has done pretty well with its mobile operating system, which is now the biggest smartphone OS and runs on some of the most covetable devices.
In response to this success, a group of 17 organisations, including Microsoft, Nokia and Oracle, has complained to the EC that Google is acting unfairly by giving away Android for free, so it can then prioritise its own services in mobile search. Sour grapes - never.
The big news for corporate IT teams last week was the reminder that there is only one more year left of support for the ageing Windows XP OS. Research revealed that XP is still on anywhere between 25 and 40 percent of business desktops, despite being 12 years old, meaning Microsoft has a job on its hands to convince those stalwarts to migrate.
Readers were keen to read our exclusive scoop about six Met police being sacked for offensive behaviour on social media, as revealed by the response to a Freedom of Information request made by news editor Dan Worth.
Also popular was our review and video review of the Nokia Lumia 720, the Finnish firm's latest Windows Phone 8 device, which is hoping to tempt mobile users with its low-end price tag and high-end features.
