HTC One release delayed as Galaxy S4 launch looms

Users won't get smartphone until end of March at the earliest

The release of the HTC One smartphone has been pushed back to the end of March for unspecified reasons.

The One was originally set for release on 15 March, however an HTC spokesman told V3 that many early buyers won't receive their handset until much later.

"We will start fulfilling pre-orders by [the] end March in certain markets and will roll out to more markets as we approach April," they said.

The news will push the One's release into the same speculated launch window as Samsung's forthcoming Galaxy S4.

The S4 is set to be unveiled on Thursday at Samsung's New York Unpacked event.

While details around the S4 remain vague, Samsung's top-end Galaxy handsets have generally outsold HTC devices over the past couple of years.

The One is HTC's latest flagship handset and looks to reinvigorate interest in its smartphones.

The device features several camera and software innovation designed to differentiate it from other handsets.

These include new Ultrapixel camera tech designed to improve the amount of light its camera can capture and BlinkFeed, new collating service.
