Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 smartphones to hit Europe in November

Mobile firm refuses to divulge UK release or pricing

Nokia has unveiled the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820's European price and release dates, confirming the two Windows Phone 8 handsets will launch in Germany this November.

While no specific UK information was given, figures for the release in Germany showed that the top end Lumia 920 will cost €649 SIM-free, while the lower end 820 will retail for a more modest €499.

This would equate to costs of around £515 for the 920 and £397 for the 820 if priced similarly in the UK.

Nokia declined V3's request for clarification on the Lumia 920 and 820's UK price and release date, though, merely stating this information would be announced in due course.

"Today, operators and retailers have started to announce plans to sell the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820," a Nokia spokesman told V3.

"We expect more operator and retailer announcements in the coming weeks. These are operator specific announcements, as we said we are launching in select markets before year's end. This is part of that cadence."

Nokia unveiled the Lumia 920 earlier in September. Powered by Microsoft's Windows Phone 8, the smartphone features the same camera technology seen in its previous 808 Pureview smartphone.

Nokia claims the Lumia 920's 8.7MP rear camera is the best currently available on any smartphone capturing "five to 10 times more light than competitors devices".

The Lumia 920 also takes advantage of Windows Phone 8's multi-core processor support, using a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor that is set to be backed up by 1GB of RAM.

The Lumia 820 boasts slightly less impressive technology than the Lumia 920, featuring a smaller 4.3in WVGA 800x480 screen that uses Nokia's older ClearBlack technology, not the new PureMotion HD+ technology seen on the Lumia 920.
