Nokia Lumia 920 appears set for November release
Flagship Windows Phone 8 handset to arrive in time for Christmas rush, according to reports
Nokia's Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8 smartphone will be released in a number of European countries in November, according to Reuters.
The Lumia 920's release date was reportedly confirmed by a number of unnamed telecom operators on Friday,
Nokia declined to comment on the accuracy of these report when contacted by V3, reiterating the Lumia 920's previous end of year release date.
"We are planning global distribution for both these products to begin later in the year," a Nokia spokesman told V3.
"Exact timelines and operators will be announced as products are getting ready to appear in retail."
Nokia unveiled the Lumia 920 at a New York event on Wednesday. Powered by Microsoft's Windows Phone 8, the smartphone features the same camera technology seen in its previous 808 Pureview smartphone.
Nokia claims the Lumia 920's 8.7MP rear camera is the best currently available on any smartphone capturing "five to 10 times more light than competitors devices".
The Lumia 920 also takes advantage of Windows Phone 8's multi-core processor support, using a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor that is set to be backed up by 1GB of RAM.
The new Lumia houses a 4.5in HD display that Nokia said houses custom PureMotion HD+ black screens, meaning the display is crystal clear in all lighting conditions, Nokia claimed.
Past its hardware, the 920 features several software additions, including a slew of Nokia's own apps, including its new Nokia City Lens. The feature offers users an augmented reality display that gives dynamic information about users' surroundings.
