Microsoft job ad suggests Office 2013 for Mac and iOS is in the pipeline

Microsoft looking for a new test engineer to 'be part of Microsoft's next move on the Mac and on iOS'

Microsoft is planning MacOS and iOS versions of its latest Office 2013 software – judging by a job ad posted by the Microsoft Office Division, based in Mountain View, California, on Microsoft's own careers website.

The advert – for a test engineer – indicates that the product is near completion.

"The MacBU Group at the Silicon Valley Campus is looking for a talented Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with a strong technical background to join the Outlook Test team. You will work very closely with the Development team on the design, implementation, & testing of new feature work to be part of Microsoft's next move on the Mac and on iOS," reads the advert.

It continues: "Our business unit offers the feel of a small, independent business with a strong team culture of innovation, creativity, and having fun. We build our own Mac and iOS products that present team members with unique technical challenges, as well as exceptional opportunities for ownership, autonomy and professional growth."

The advert is currently posted on the Microsoft Careers website. It was originally published on 14 July.

Skills required or preferred include:

• Passion for the Mac platform;
• Hands on experience with Mac OS X development technologies;
• Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office for the Mac.
