Nokia 808 PureView to ship within days
41MP camera phone available for pre-order on Amazon
Nokia's latest 808 PureView smartphone is available for pre-order on Amazon, with a promised end of June shipping date.
The 808 PureView is currently retailing for £500 sim-free, placing it in the same price bracket as the popular Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X and Apple iPhone 4S handsets.
The device was the only Symbian smartphone unveiled by Nokia at Mobile World Congress in February.
Nokia has since issued a statement claiming the device's unique 41MP Carl Zeiss optics camera sensor will help it compete in the high end market.
"PureView has completely raised the bar on imaging performance for the whole smartphone industry - and Nokia is not stopping here," said head of Smart Devices at Nokia, Jo Harlow.
"We're going to carry on developing PureView for our future smartphones in ways that will again revolutionise the imaging experience."
Outside of its camera, the device features fairly standard specifications, featuring a 4in 360x640 Amoled capacitive touch-screen and being powered by a 1.3GHz ARM 11 processor backed up by 512MB of RAM.
But while Nokia has initially put the PureView technology into a Symbian handset, it has previously suggested that it will in future bring it to its Windows Phone devices.
