Linklaters deploys video collaboration service globally
Law firm has rolled out a new video service from Polycom to 27 offices in 19 countries, reducing travel costs and improving staff communication
Law firm Linklaters has rolled out a new video service from Polycom to 27 offices in 19 countries, reducing travel costs and improving staff communication.
Linklaters deployed Polycom's RealPresence video collaboration suites in its offices, including London, New York, Hong Kong and Frankfurt, to improve staff communications, speed decision-making and boost productivity.
The technology has also helped the firm to reduce its travel budgets by tens of thousands of pounds, while also saving 1,900 tonnes of CO2 in the first year of use, the law firms said.
Alastair Mitchell, London chief operating officer at Linklaters, highlighted the importance of flexible communication to his business.
"Communicating and collaborating effectively with each other, regardless of location, is crucial to our ability to deliver. Video collaboration makes it possible to collaborate in real-time, face-to-face without needing to get on a flight, where valuable time and productivity is lost."
The internal travel desk at Linklaters now encourages employees to use the video suites instead of travelling to meetings. The new platform is used for a range of activities, from senior executive board meetings to training sessions and client meetings.
Mitchell explained that the level of staff demand for the video collaboration services proves its value to the business.
"The increase in employee demand for video collaboration is proof of the facility's success. Through the video suites we are able to hold virtual meetings that promote faster communications across key locations, with the added benefits of reducing travel costs and our impact on the environment."
