Devon County Council tenders for HP BladeSystem maintenance

HP approved service agreement worth up to £350,000

Devon County Council has tendered for an HP-approved service agreement to maintain its HP BladeSystem infrastructure.

The online tender says that interested parties "must be able to deliver an integrated set of proactive and reactive services designed to help the authority maximise performance, availability and functional use of these business critical systems".

The length of the contract has not been disclosed but the value is between £300,000 and £350,000.

In 2008, Devon County Council implemented HP BladeSystem technology to provide the server infrastructure for a VMWare virtualisation project. This consisted of two HP C7000 chassis and 19 HP BL460 G5 blade servers.

The council invested in a further seven HP C7000 chassis blade servers and 110 HP BL460 G6 and G7 blade servers for a desktop refresh project in 2010.

The service agreement will need to cover the entire HP BladeSystem infrastructure.

Devon County Council also has a server estate consisting of HP ProLiant servers and IBM P series servers but these are not covered in the service agreement.

Interested parties have until 23 April to submit their applications.
