#MWC: HTC launches One X smartphone with Nvidia quad-core Tegra 3 chip
Firm also offering 4.3in One S handset and 3.7in One V Ice Cream Sandwich devices
BARCELONA: HTC has announced the flagship ‘One' range, a family of Android handsets that caters to the needs of mid-tier and power users.
The One X will target users wanting high-performance and a big screen. It comes with a 4.7in 720p display, which is encased in a polycarbonate unibody casing.
The handset will be powered by the Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor and feature 1GB of RAM. There will be 32GB of internal memory and users will also be eligible to receive 25GB of free storage from Dropbox for two years.
This has been provided as the device will not come with micro-SD card support.
The One X will come with near field communication (NFC) and digital living networks (DLNA) capabilities. HTC will be offering a wireless HDMI dongle accessory so that users will be able to stream content directly from their device to a HD display.
Other hardware features include a micro-SIM card slot and an 8-megapixel camera, which HTC is touting as a key feature.
The Taiwanese manufacturer has included an f2.0 lens and a BSI sensor so the device is able to absorb more light and take pictures faster than previous handsets.
Graham Wheeler, director of product commercialisation said the camera on the One X is capable of loading in 0.7 seconds and carrying out auto-focus in 0.2 seconds or "faster than the blink of an eye".
Users will also be able to take pictures while the camera is recording, and take multiple pictures by holding down the camera button.
Meanwhile, the One S device is set to come with a 4.3in display with a 540x960 resolution and will be powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. HTC has used micro-arc oxidation process to make the unibody frame scratch resistant. The chassis will also have a thickness of 7.8mm, making it the firm's thinnest device to date.

The One S will come with 16GB of internal memory, plus an optional 25GB from Dropbox. It will also feature the same 8-megapixel camera found in the One X.
Finally, the One V will be the smallest device in the range and will cater to users who want a device that is less than 4in in size and has a design based on the popular HTC Legend handset.
The One V will feature a 3.7in display, a 1GHz single-core processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory. However, the device has micro SD card support so storage can be boosted. The device will feature a 5-megapixel camera, but HTC has confirmed that it will retain all the optics that are found int he One X and One S.
All three devices will ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, have wireless syncing capabilities as well as Beats Audio.
The handsets will also feature the latest version of the firm's software overlay, HTC Sense 4. The manufacturer has incorporated its own widgets and animations that will give the interface a unique look compared to other Android Ice Cream devices.
The multitasking menu will have a more graphical appearance compared to stock Android screens and HTC has kept the capacitive buttons on the bottom of the device to compliment the on-screen touch buttons.
HTC has yet to announce pricing, but has confirmed the devices are expected to start shipping in April. There will be no carrier exclusives, and networks are expected to announce deals after Mobile World Congress.
