Nokia finally bins the Symbian brand
Latest software renamed Nokia Belle
Nokia is to ditch the Symbian brand altogether after renaming its latest piece of Symbian software Nokia Belle.
"The all-new Nokia Belle (previously Symbian Belle) user interface will soon be available for download to some existing smartphones and begin shipping with a selection of smartphones that are already on the market," the company said in a Nokia Conversations blog post.
The former Symbian Belle was launched earlier this year with the Nokia 701, 700 and 603 smartphones.
Nokia will start releasing the new Nokia Belle software update in February to existing customers, who will be able to download it straight to their phones.
Nokia Belle brings more home screens, expanding the current three on Nokia Anna to six. The home screen widgets have also been improved and made more functional than before.
