Talk Talk customers have most to complain about, reveals Ofcom

Complaints largely focus on billing and customer service, according to regulator

Telecoms firm Talk Talk has received more complaints than any other company in its sector, with those complaints largely about billing and customer service issues, according to telecoms regulator Ofcom's quarterly complaints review.

The report lists the most complained-about major telecoms providers and covers the period between July to September 2011.

Concerning fixed landline services, Ofcom found that Talk Talk received 0.77 complaints per 1,000 customers, while the least complained about provider was Virgin Media with 0.19 complaints per 1,000 customers.

This is the fourth quarter in a row that Virgin Media has received the fewest complaints.

Talk Talk was again the most complained about firm when it came to fixed broadband services, with Virgin Media and Sky both experiencing the fewest number of complaints per 1,000 customers.

The regulator found that there were fewer complaints overall relating to mobile services, with 3UK receiving the highest ratio of complaints to customers, with disputed charges and customer service being the most vexing issues.

Provider O2 experienced the lowest ratio of complaints.

Ofcom chose to measure firms in terms of complaints per 1,000 customers in order to provide a level playing field.

The complaints data published provides data for companies with a market share of greater than four per cent.
