Google+ made available to enterprises through Google Apps

The social networking site hopes to gain traction with businesses

Google has finally revealed details of how enterprises can take advantage of its latest social networking product, Google+.

In July of this year, shortly after Google+ was released, Christian Oestlien, a key developer on the project, urged businesses not to sign up to the site as it was "not optimally suited" for business needs yet.

However, Google has since integrated Google+ with Google Apps and businesses will now be able to manually turn it on for all employees.

Ronald Ho, product manager at Google, admitted in a blog post that the integration process was more complicated than he initially expected.

"It took more technical work than we expected to bring Google+ to Google Apps, and we thank you for your patience," he wrote.

"This integration is just the beginning. We'll continue to add features and improve the way that Google+ works with Google Apps."

Google App users will largely have access to the same features as those publicly available on Google+. However, users will be able share information with their whole organisation, as opposed to sharing with specific circles of friends or colleagues.
