UK startups launch recruitment drive for IT talent
Jobs fair promises to offer IT graduates more exciting career options than a job in banking
UK-based technology startups are gearing up for their second “recruitment fair for people who don’t like recruitment fairs” event, which aims to show budding computer scientists that there are more exciting career paths open to them than joining a bank.
The Silicon Milkroundabout event – a punning combination of the university milk round and Silicon Roundabout, London’s hotbed of UK startups – will take place on 30 October, with enough startups signed up to guarantee 500 job slots for technology graduates.
The firms already committed to taking part include the likes of music firms Last.fm and 7Digital, fundraising group Justgiving, along with others such as research paper organiser Mendeley, Apache Cassandra developer Acuna, and online health food merchant Graze.com.
“There will be brand new companies looking to hire their very first team, as well as those already established big names, and everything in between,” the event organisers claim.
