London council is looking for a new IT head to manage ICT transformation

The London Borough of Hounslow is looking to recruit a new head of IT/chief information officer. The post offers a salary of between £83,148 and £97,007, plus benefits.

The role involves heading up the 65-strong IT department, developing strategy and advising senior council figures.

The successful candidate will plan ICT initiatives that support the council's future needs, design enterprise processes and manage its security, technology and resources.

The job description gives an indication of what is expected from the candidate: "We want your efforts to start on day one. You must know the questions to ask, the processes to follow and the steps to take. In short, you should be used to managing successful transformations."

It adds: "We'll also be looking for sound technical skills and a firm grasp of the principles of secure and efficient information management. Financial, contracting and commercial management skills are essential too."
