Orb Data offers Tivoli-as-a-Service for SMEs
Firms get Remote Support and TaaS service offerings for Tivoli application management
IT infrastructure management specialist Orb Data, has unveiled two new service offerings designed to help firms manage their Tivoli applications.
Buckinghamshire-based Orb Data's two service models, Remote Support and Tivoli-as-a-Service (TaaS), are aimed at SMEs without the resources to be able to manage the Tivoli application platform.
Tivoli is the service management brand of the IBM Software Group covering configuration, monitoring and change management for hardware and software systems.
"Small companies might find themselves unable to manage their Tivoli apps as a result of staff turnover, lack of Tivoli expertise, or system hardware changes and application upgrades (Microsoft Exchange, for example)," said Orb Data director Nigel Brown.
"Big financial firms who have large teams (30-40) dedicated to running Tivoli application suites wouldn't need these services, but our offerings could suit smaller firms for the reasons above."
The "Remote Support" model will see Orb Data's Tivoli experts take over the management of firms' on-premise Tivoli infrastructure to act as a remote part of its IT team.
The TaaS option is accessed via Orb's public cloud systems with Tivoli running in Orb Data's datacentres in Bristol and Gloucester. The TaaS model does not charge for initial implementation.
Customers will be charged at a fixed monthly rate, and receive services including software, hardware and support.
"The customer will give us their requirements/size and get a single monthly price," he said.
Although not the only firm offering Tivoli managed services, Orb Data claims it is the only partner in the world with triple 'A' status for IBM Service Management at Datacentre Management & Transformations level.
