Tesco launches Android app
Tesco shoppers can order groceries for home delivery from Google handsets
Tesco has launched a new grocery app for the Android mobile platform. The app enables Android smartphone users to order and pay for the home delivery of their shopping via their handset.
It was designed in a collaboration between app developer Ribot and Tesco's in-house mobile development team.
"I know you've wanted this app to launch for a long time. But the management team, designers and developers were patient and considered, and did things right so we could launch an app to be proud of," said Nick Lansley, head of research and development at Tesco.com.
There are various options for searching for products, such as barcode scanning using the phone's camera as well as voice search. The user can also shop by department, aisle or shelf.
Customers can choose a delivery slot up to three weeks in advance.
The app can be downloaded via Android Market.
