Huawei to double UK headcount
Chinese firm plans to add another 500 roles over next three years
Chinese networking solutions provider Huawei plans to double its headcount in the UK over the next three years.
The firm has committed to creating a further 500 roles in its enterprise and device business, to add to its existing 500-strong workforce, at its UK office in Basingstoke.
Huawei said it is expanding these divisions after seeing success in its network infrastructure business, and aims to step up its consumer business too.
It is looking for a broad range of skills and experience from prospective candidates for these divisions, and will be recruiting engineers, sales professionals and management roles.
In addition, the networking vendor is in the process of developing a formal UK graduate programme, and also plans to generate a further 1,000 to 1,500 subcontracting roles over the three years.
Victor Zhang, UK chief executive, said that the UK is a key market for Huawei.
"As one of the leading technology vendors in the world, Huawei has been implementing its localisation strategy for many years. An increase in employees in our UK office will help us to provide more customised and innovative products and solutions for British telecom carriers, enterprise customers and consumers," he said.
