Lenovo touts forthcoming laptops and tablets for business users
Firm uses Gadget Show to show off super fast booting and business-oriented laptops
Lenovo has shown off a series of laptops for the UK market that offer boot times of below 15 seconds, as the company aims to appeal to business users who require laptops with load times comparable to those of tablets.
The ThinkPad E420 is designed to boot in under 10 seconds, while the Y570 (pictured) should boot in under 15 seconds.
William Cai, product specialist from Lenovo's Idea Product group, told V3.co.uk that this would provide several benefits to business users.
"Being able to boot in these times means that users can access information quickly and easily. While tablets are instant laptops, they have a lot of additional functions that can take time to load, but we have reduced this to just a few seconds," he said.
"We've sold around 10 million units in the last 11 months across the business, SME and consumer markets, and we're confident that these new products will help increase this growth."
The Y570 and the E420 will be in stores from late April or early May, and have been available online for about a week. Cai explained that Lenovo is aiming the products specifically at the UK market.
Both laptops will cost between £799 and £1,000 depending on specifications.
Cai also provided more information on three Lenovo tablets announced at CES in January. The Android-based LePad and Windows-based IdeaPad S1 will be available from May/June, while the ThinkTablet will be launched in September.
Cai said that the ThinkTablet and IdeaPad S1 will come with a digitiser pen, allowing businesses users to make notes during meetings instead of using standard tablets such as the iPad. Each will cost between £399 and £499.
