DWP axes £212m Fujitsu contract

Biggest UK desktop and thin-client contract dumped

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has axed a £212m contract it signed with IT systems integrator Fujitsu in February last year.

At the time the contract was the biggest desktop and thin-client outsource deal in the UK and the department said it would reduce the total cost of ownership of the DWP's 140,000-strong desktop estate.

The government has already wasted considerable time and money on the contract.

This is part of the coalition's wider initiative to reassess larger IT contracts signed under the Labour government.
