Vodafone will continue selling HD2 to corporates

Mobile giant clarifies that it will only stop stocking the device for consumers

HTC's HD2 has received glowing reviews since its launch in November

Vodafone has announced that it will continue to stock HTC's iPhone rival the HD2 for business customers, despite announcing last week that the device would no longer be available to consumers on the network.

In a statement on the network giant's eForum last Thursday, a spokesman said: "We won't be re-stocking the HTC HD2 for general consumer sales once our current devices sell out."

However, a Vodafone spokesman today confirmed to V3.co.uk that this will not apply to business customers, who will still be able to purchase the device.

"From a consumer perspective we recognise this has caused some anger, but we feel that with the smartphones currently available, and with what's in the pipeline with the iPhone and the N900, we're confident we're still giving customers a great choice of handsets," the spokesman said.

"But from an enterprise perspective the HD2 remains a really strong phone, so we'll continue to sell this to our enterprise customers."

The decision to sell the HD2 to enterprises but not consumers is likely to be met with anger by some of Vodafone's customers, if the discussion threads on the eForum when the news broke last week are anything to go by.

Our V3.co.uk HD2 review gave the handset an overall rating of 4/5, labelling it "the best Windows phone we've ever seen".
