Asus taps users for new notebook design ideas

Company partners with Intel for community design project

Asus could make users' dreams a reality

Asus is asking users to design the company's next notebooks.

The company is partnering with Intel on a project to gather user ideas for future notebook models.

The WePC site allows users to post both blogs and designs about what their dream notebook will look like. Categories include conventional notebooks, netbooks and gaming notebooks.

The company hopes that the project will give more insight into what consumers are looking for in terms of hardware and features.

"Asus strives to provide the best user experience with our products," said Lillian Lin, Asus' director of marketing planning.

"By empowering WePC.com users to play a role in the design process, we expect to deliver cutting-edge community-designed products that address a consumer vision of the dream PC."

Eventually, Asus said that it plans to roll out a design in each of the three categories, though no date for a possible release has been given.
