HP to target enterprises with new cloud offering
Enterprise cloud service will be launched next month
HP will launch a new cloud service aimed at enterprises next month, the company said.
The service, called HP Enterprise Cloud Services-Compute, will offer cloud services from two HP datacentres – one in Oklahoma in the US, and the other in Wynyard in the UK.
Customers are free to choose their own cloud platform, be it Windows Azure or a virtual machine-based program.
HP also plans to offer an integrated package of hardware, software and services for building internal clouds, called CloudService.
CloudService systems can be integrated with HP Enterprise Cloud Services-Compute, allowing users to switch workloads between an internal cloud and HP's.
The company will also offer workshops to help organisations to develop their cloud strategies.
"HP has the enterprise experience, breadth of portfolio and global service delivery to lead our clients through the transformation to cloud computing," said Ann Livermore, executive vice-president, HP Enterprise Business in a statement.
