Military and government sites for sale by hackers

Cyber criminals found to be selling cracked sites on forums

Dozens of hacked military and government web sites from both the US and Europe have been found for sale on cyber criminal forums.

Data security firm Imperva has found that the sites' security was breached primarily using a form of attack known as 'SQL injection'.

This technique has been around for over a decade and relies on poor webform construction enabling usernames and passwords to be sent to hackers so that they can control the site.

Computing was shown a list of hacked sites showing the level of control granted (often full site admin rights), and the price, which ranged from $55 (£34) to $499 (£312).

The hacker was also selling personal information stolen from various sites at a rate of $20 (£12.50) per one thousand records.
