Atos and London 2012 launch tech lab for the Olympic Games

Chair of the London 2012 Seb Coe and Locog CIO Gerry Pennel will officially launch the lab

A technology lab for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be launched today, by the organising body behind the Olympics, London 2012, and technology partner Atos Origin.

The lab will be used to test the software created for use in the Commentator Information System, a Java-based system developed by Atos Origin that collects and delivers competition results to relevant parties.

The system must contain and be able to transmit information on the athletes, information on previous records, as well as software that understands the rules and parameters of each of the events.

Seb Coe, Chair of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, will launch the start of 200,000 hours of IT testing together with Gerry Pennel, CIO, London 2012; Patrick Adiba, CEO, Atos Origin for Iberia, Olympics and Major Events; and Michèle Hyron, chief integrator at Atos Origin for the London 2012 Games.
