Mass release of Oracle security fixes due today

IT departments running the big O prepare for patch-fest

Oracle is releasing 66 security patches across its product range today.

The Critical Patch Update contains fixes for Audit Vault of Oracle Audit Vault, JRockit of Oracle Fusion Middleware, Solaris of Oracle Sun Products Suite and WebLogic Server of Oracle Fusion Middleware, which all score 10 on the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS), the highest severity rating on what Oracle has adopted as the Richter Scale of security flaws.

Other products affected include Oracle's eponymous database, PeopleSoft CRM and human resources applications, Sun Java System Portal Server, and the Oracle Application Object Library.

Oracle's advisory note said: "Due to the threat posed by a successful attack, Oracle strongly recommends that customers apply Critical Patch Update fixes as soon as possible."
