New travel comparison site offers technology to third parties

Directflights.com is offering the opportunity for third parties to white label its unique flight grid

Newly-launched travel price comparison web site Directflights.com is offering third parties the opportunity to white label its price comparison grid.

The site, which was launched this week, will enable travel publishers, accommodation web sites and car hire companies to incorporate its technology – namely its unique grid-style display – into their own web sites as an HTML iframe.

The grid is underpinned by software developed by Directflights.com and works on a cost-per-click basis. Directflights.com's travel agency partners pay the site 50p any time a consumer clicks on a price that is displayed. However, if the click is made on the third-party site, Directflights.com will pay a percentage of that revenue to the third party.

"The look and feel will be designed to reflect the third party site; it's not about our brand and it adds value to their site. But they're also driving traffic to our site, and we're making revenue from them," said Rob Stross, managing director at Directflights.com.

The site also has an exclusive agreement with the Carbon Consultancy, a company that measures carbon emissions, which has enabled it to launch a "green flight search".

The Carbon Consultancy independently ranks airlines based on complex emissions data, and by incorporating this information into Directflights.com, a consumer can search for the cheapest as well as the most eco-friendly flight.

"We've developed this on the back of a lot of consumer research which tells us that this is what people want. At the moment, about 15 to 20 per cent of our users are using the green flight search, but I expect that to grow in the future," added Stross.
