IT professionals are disloyal, survey shows
More than half of IT professionals do not feel loyal to their company, finds the IT Jobs Board
Some 59 per cent of people working in IT said they did not feel loyal to their firm, according to IT recruitment web site the IT Jobs Board.
The report also found that 80 per cent of IT employees would be looking for a new IT job in 2011, a finding that arguably underlines a general lack of loyalty.
The main reasons given for this were: "management not listening"; "corner cutting within the company"; "not feeling valued" or "being paid a poor salary".
Of the remaining 41 per cent of those who said they felt loyal to their employer, 45 per cent said it was because they were working on exciting projects, with a further 45 per cent saying it was because they liked their team.
"Clearly the survey highlights that companies need to improve their communication with staff and make them feel more valued," said Sarah Jones, spokeswoman for the IT Jobs Board.
"The UK IT skills shortage means that the best talent will be snapped up, and potential new employers need to stand out and show the benefits of working for them. It seems next year will be another exciting one for the IT recruitment sector," she added.
