The force is seeking someone with experience in a similar role to develop and implement a comprehensive information systems strategy.

Based in Birmingham, the CIO will report directly to the chief constable. The police force said that it is looking for a candidate that possesses extensive technical knowledge of ICT systems and infrastructure, as the successful candidate will be required to provide strategic direction and lead service delivery across force systems and architecture, information security, data quality and records management.

The post is on a three-year, fixed-term contract and pays up to £95,000 per year, plus benefits and performance-related bonus.

"We are facing a big challenge: to deliver the highest standards while reducing cost," the police force wrote in the job description.
