British Transport Police awards five-year contract to ABM
The deal will extend the British Transport Police's (BTP) confidential informant management capabilities
The British Transport Police has signed a five-year contract with secure software specialist ABM for its Abmpegasus Source Management solution – this collates and manages covert human intelligence sources (CHIS) within an organisation.
Currently being used by 80 per cent of UK police services, Abmpegasus Source Management will allow the British Transport Police to effectively manage confidential informants.
Abmpegasus allows enhanced profiling to match and track covert human intelligence, incorporating details related to the informant and other related criminal activity. It will help the BTP improve financial monitoring and control of payments and rewards to informants.
The software is being implemented to maximise accountability, while enhancing the productivity of each confidential informant.
“By incorporating ABM’s Source Management module into the Force’s existing infrastructure, the BTP can maximise accountability, while enhancing the productivity of each source,” said Sue Grewcock, ABM’s professional services director.
BTP’s 2,835 police officers and 1,455 support staff police the tracks and provide a service to rail operators, their staff and passengers across the country.
Formal training will be provided for BTP in December, and full implementation will commence in the new year.
