Kaspersky launches 'high-value' approach to business IT security
Companies should aim higher than just compliance, says Kaspersky vice president Maskell
Kaspersky recommends a corporate-wide anti-malware strategy
Russian cyber security firm Kasperskylabs has launched 12 new products and services aimed at protecting businesses from malware and located in the different key points of a network.
“We’re putting protection at all the key points of the network, including the smartphones, servers and the cloud,” said Keith Maskell, vice president of corporate business at Kaspersky.
Maskell argued that the rapidly evolving nature of cyber threats affecting today’s enterprise means it’s no longer sufficient to simply purchase and install anti-virus software.
“Targeted attacks are getting more prevalent and more dangerous. People have the attitude that they can’t do anything if they get targeted, besides mitigate the loss."
He added that a multi-layered strategy is necessary, with every platform protected from the sort of attacks faced today, and future-proofed for the type of attacks likely to take place in future.
“Threats and the IT infrastructure are changing so fast. This makes it harder to see how to protect the customer several years from now,” Maskell admitted.
The organisation’s 800-strong research and development team works hard to predict malware trends and emerging technologies in an effort to remain a step ahead of malware coders.
Maskell concluded that companies should aim for more than simply ticking the anti-malware compliance box. In his view, a considered, organisation-wide anti-malware strategy is the only way to ensure protection.
Kaspersky hopes to provide the products to enable this strategy with its current launch.
“If you don’t have a proper anti-malware strategy, then you’re putting your whole company at risk,” he said.
