Pizza Hut delivers environmental treat
Video and audio conferencing technology offers twin benefits
Pizza Hut is replacing business travel in favour video and audio conferencing as part of a charitable event that donates the cost of each call to planting more trees.
The pizza company has nominated a climate care day, during which time, the cost of using conference calling technology will be passed on to Trees for Cities.
The charity estimates that for every 3,000 miles travelled by an average car, 4.1 tree carbon trees need to be planted to neutralise the environmental effect.
‘We are always looking for was to help the environment and this was simple and effective,’ a Pizza Hut spokesman said.
Trees for Cities chief executive Graham Simmonds says business travel is a major contributor to global warming.
‘Climate change is going to affect all of us over the coming years and at Trees for Cities we believe passionately in the need to work in partnership on practical steps that will help in the fight against global warming,’ he said.
Arkadian, a provider of audio and data conferencing technology, is organising the climate care days, with 40 UK businesses already signing on.
