Camden gets remote repair system
Council streamlines maintenance despatch with plug-in to housing system
Camden Council has taken on a system to provide secure remote access to its housing database for repair contractors.
The council, which owns 33,000 houses, runs a large number of contractors who undertake maintenance and upkeep work on its stock and wants to use the remote access system to keep track of repairs and keep tenants informed of progress.
This in turn allows Camden to free up resources and deliver better services to its customers.
Martin Fox, head of business services for housing at Camden Council says if one of its tenants reports a leaking roof or problems with their central heating it can’t afford to waste a moment.
'By providing our contractors with secure remote access, supplied by Scalable Networks, to the main housing management application they are able to log-on and pull off jobs in a self-service fashion,' he said.
'Once the work is completed they then request payment on-line, using the same system. We can then either approve or highlight discrepancies, simplifying the invoice payment process.'
