Mozilla releases new Firefox candidate
Release candidate 2 of the Mozilla browser has many enhancements and updated features
Mozilla has made available a second release candidate of its Firefox 3 web browser. It said that the browser, which is already downloadable, had been released for testing purposes only.
The organisation has made a large number of enhancements to the browser, and added a number of new features.
High on the list of enhancements are improvements to the security services offered by the browser. Mozilla has added a 'One-click site info' option that when used can display information about a host site, as well as the integrity of the individual's own connection. Other security features include better malware protection, add-ons and plug in tests, and anti-virus integration.
Also included with this version is an improved developer platform. Mozilla said that this had new graphics and font handling capabilities, as well as offline support. The group also announced a number of performance benefits, such as improved memory usage and overall reliability.
