OGC signs contract for one of the largest managed IP network services in Europe
Government buying agency The Office of Government Commerce (OCG) has signed a £105m contract extension for managed telecommunications services.
The agreement with IP systems provider Global Crossing extends an existing contract to 2011 and will include migration to advanced IP services such as collaboration and IP telephony.
The new portfolio of services will include hosted IP telephony and mobile working services for UK Government, which have been designed to meet the specific security needs of the public sector.
The new agreement builds on an existing contract signed in 1996 for managed voice and data network services to public sector organisations throughout the UK.
The IP network serves approximately 125,000 public sector employees and is one of the largest managed IP network services in Europe.
