Microsoft extends SAM software asset management
Microsoft offers software management "Self-start" scheme for firms with 250-plus PCs
Microsoft has launched a new programme intended to simplify its Software Asset Management (SAM) scheme for firms with more than 250 PCs. The latest SAM initiative will help customers “self-start” the process of managing software infrastructures and underlying licensing agreements, Microsoft said.
In order to receive SAM certification, customers must view a series of webcasts and work with a Microsoft channel partner on implementing best-practice.
“Users asked us for more empowerment and something a bit more formal so we’ve developed this DIY route,” said Ram Dhaliwal, Microsoft UK licensing programme manager.
Dhaliwal said that customers report average cost savings of up to 30 percent on licensing and management of software using SAM.
