Debenhams in mobile trials
Department store to extend trials
Debenhams is trialling mobile devices in its fitting rooms
Debenhams is planning to extend trials of self-service kiosks and mobile devices that allow customers to communicate with staff and pay in the fitting room.
Customers can scan clothing using a kiosk in the fitting room that allows them to request different sizes and additional items.
The request is transmitted wirelessly to mobile devices held by staff, who can also communicate with the kiosk.
The system is Chip-and-PIN enabled, so the customer can pay at the same time. Initial trials indicate that sales increase because customers try on more clothing.
