Liverpool Direct deal extended to 2017
Contract between city council and BT set to last five extra years
Liverpool City Council has extended its Liverpool Direct joint venture with BT for an extra five years in a deal worth £325m.
The contract had been due to last until 2012 but will now finish in 2017 and be worth £800m overall.
Liverpool Direct has achieved a great deal in a very short space of time, says Liverpool City Council’s executive member for central services, councillor Richard Marbrow.
'We’re now really beginning to provide the people of Liverpool with the services they deserve,' he said.
'This new deal will allow us to continue investing in new technology and improving services for the foreseeable future.'
In place since 2001, Liverpool Direct has been responsible for large-scale updates in the council's IT and business processes, including reforms of its revenues and benefits department and updates of its human resources systems.
