Exclusive: Another CIO exits Citi
Roy Aston resigns after less than six months in the job
Roy Aston is the third CIO to exit Citi in the past few months
After less than six months in the job, the acting chief information officer (CIO) of Citigroup's UK consumer division, Roy Aston, has resigned, Computing can reveal.
"Roy Aston is leaving to pursue other opportunities outside of the bank. He moves on with our best wishes for the future," said a spokesman for the financial services giant.
"We hope to able to announce his successor shortly," he said.
Aston - previously a technology chief for the former Citi UK businesses before the merger with online bank Egg - had been given responsibility for the IT department following the departure of the previous CIO, Robin Young, in October.
Young left Citi to work on "a major UK integration programme starting in 2009 between two well-known UK financial institutions". At the time, he told Computing that his departure was prompted by the looming reduction of his responsibilities after integrating Citi and Egg's IT infrastructures and staff.
The news of Aston's departure comes shortly after the resignation of Citi' s global CIO Marty Lippert, who left the bank last month to return to his native Canada "for personal reasons".
