Harrods IT overhaul moves to next phase
Refreshing legacy systems allows retailer to provide additional business value
Luxury retailer Harrods is moving into the next phase of an IT infrastructure overhaul, having successfully replacing many of its core operational systems.
David Llamas Harrods chief information officer told Computing the programme is already delivering better IT service levels in core business areas, including at the tills, in enterprise resource planning (ERP) operations, the supply chain and IT helpdesk support.
‘Now we are moving towards being more reactive and making better business decisions,’ he said.
‘We will become a more online business,’ he said. ‘That means we will have more information online and be able to react faster.’
The company has been modernising its IT infrastructure for the last three years, aligning streamlined systems and resources to key strategic business areas that include improving employee satisfaction, brand recognition and customer satisfaction.
