2e2 opens datacentre hosting in Milton Keynes

Hosting firm 2e2 hopes that is new datacentre will take pressure off London

IT services provider 2e2 has today announced a new datacentre hosting suite in Milton Keynes. Due to future large infrastructure projects in London like the Olympics and the Cross Rail London rail link, 2e2 said that the capacity for further datacentre growth in the capital could be limited.

2e2’s new Milton Keynes Data Centre (MKDC) offers a ‘best in class’ service just outside the M25 motorway and has, “Both space and power available immediately.”

2e2 managed services line of business director Adam Kamruddin said, “The increasing costs for building upkeep, primary and back-up power, on-site fuel storage, WAN connectivity and technical and security staff salaries and training are making outsourcing an attractive option.”

2e2 said that the new MKDC, “Has been designed to provide customers with an average power and cooling of 4Kw per rack, with raised flooring to improve airflow and hot and cold aisles to maximise the efficiency of the computer room air conditioning units.”

The new suite uses 42U high racks with dual power feeds for resilience, terminating on APC power bars. Connectivity is available from a range of service providers, and the 24/7 physical security operation at MKDC gives controlled access with internal security giving secure access to each suite, each rack being individually locked.

2e2 said that customers taking up the service will benefit from the immediate proximity of the 2e2 Milton Keynes Service Centre giving “swift on site response.”
