HP and VMware get cosier with packages

HP and VMware have expanded their strategic collaboration relationship

HP and VMware are collaborating to make it easier for their customers to manage both virtual and physical IT systems.

HP has announced that it is expanding its partnership with VMware and will be releasing new software, including service management and optimisation tools, that can work across environments.

The firm announced these new integrations of its business technology optimisation (BTO) software for VMware's virtualization platform; HP Business Service Management, a monitoring solution, HP Discovery and Dependency Mapping and HP Universal CMDB, which helps manage virtual environments, and tracks and reports on any changes to the system, and HP Business Service Automation.

As well as these HP will release software packages that combine its tools with VMware's Infrastructure 3 software suite. “Virtual environments require the same process and discipline as physical infrastructures – from deployment and monitoring to securing, compliance and change management,” said Ben Horowitz, vice president and general manager, Business Technology Optimisation, Software, HP.

“We’re expanding our relationship with VMware to jointly develop solutions that provide customers with comprehensive management of virtualized business applications running on the VMware platform.”
